Myndlift’s brainwave training works on the principle of operant conditioning—basically, your brain gets “rewarded” when it produces the kind of electrical activity your therapist wants to encourage, and that reward reinforces the new pattern over time.
Here’s the process step-by-step:
1. Reading Your Brainwaves in Real Time
The EEG headset detects your brain’s electrical activity (measured in different frequencies like alpha, beta, theta, etc.).
- These brainwaves correlate with different mental states—for example, beta is linked with focus, alpha with calm relaxation, theta with drowsiness or deep creativity
2. Setting a Training Goal
Your clinician chooses a protocol based on your needs (e.g., “increase mid-beta waves for sustained attention” or “reduce high-beta waves to lower anxiety”).
- The app continuously monitors whether your brain is moving toward the desired state.
3. Instant Feedback (The “Reward”)
While you’re watching a video, playing a game, or listening to music through the Myndlift app, the system will change what you see or hear based on your brainwaves:
- If your brain is in the target pattern → the video plays smoothly, the image brightens, or the game moves forward.
- If your brain drifts away from the target → the screen dims, the video pauses, or the game slows down.
- This is your brain’s “nudge” to return to the desired state.
4. Brain Learns Through Repetition
Over many sessions, your brain starts producing the target brainwave patterns more easily and naturally, even outside of training sessions.
- It’s similar to how muscle memory works in physical training—except here, you’re building neuroplasticity, the brain’s ability to rewire itself.
5. Long-Term Change
As the new patterns become your “default,” you may notice improvements in focus, calmness, sleep quality, or emotional balance without consciously trying.
